JAZZFEST 2010 IS HERE!

The nineteenth annual Sioux Falls Jazz & Blues Festival – JazzFest starts Thursday evening at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, SD.
How to Get There:
A $10 parking fee will be charged for parking inside Yankton Trail Park. ADA parking is available inside the park. More information about parking at the festival can be found here.
Shuttle buses run from O’Gorman, Roosevelt, and Lincoln High Schools costing $3 for a round-trip starting at 5pm on Thursday, 5pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday. Shuttles run continuously until 11pm on Thursday and 12:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The downtown trolley starts at the Downtown Holiday Inn City Centre, which runs from 5pm to midnight Friday and Saturday and is free.
Get to JazzFest the green way and ride your bike. Spoke-N-Sport will provide a free bike valet at JazzFest for those that want to use the bike trail.

3pm: Science of Sound Exhibition with the Washington Pavilion
3:30pm: “Tell Me a Story about Jazz” with Rebecca Dodds. An interactive musical story about how jazz and blues came to be in America. Children will take part adding musical effects and visual interest to the story using instruments and other items from Rebecca’s “Blues Bag.” All ages and abilities welcome.
4pm: Live music by Phil Baker
5pm: Science of Sound Exhibition with the Washington Pavilion
5:30pm: “Swingin’ Sounds” with Rebbeca Dodds. Discover the basic elements of jazz in a fun swingin’ way. Learn about “blue notes.” Try out a “syncopated rhythm.” You may even “improvise” your own melody! All ages and abilities welcome.
6pm: Live music by Phil Baker
7pm: Science of Sound Exhibition with the Washington Pavilion

* JazzFest features music, kid’s activities, and much, much more!
* The festival will feature 30 fabulous food vendors, arts, crafts and informational booths, beer gardens, a cigar booth, a misting tent, a photo booth, a gaming booth and fireworks!
* Midcontinent Communications is going to be on hand to make JazzFest a “HotSpot” by providing free wireless internet access on festival grounds. The Midcontinent Big Screen will provide festival goers with a bird’s eye view of what’s taking place on the main stage.
* Join us for the 1st Annual JazzFest 5K Run/Fun Walk on Saturday July 17th at 9am. $25 for individuals and $60 for teams up to 4. Call 335-6101 or click here to sign up!
* 9 Clouds, Inc. will be at the festival to help with social media and to chat with festival-goers about their experience with a chance for you to be featured in a photo or video!
The festival remains free to the public with the support of over 70 sponsors and over 800 volunteers.
